The first day of course of Urban Anthropology we visited Stanjel, a small karst town. This was lost paradise on the Earth for photographers. Some photos are published here too. In the past Ferrari garden was used for promenades of Stanjel citizens. Near the fish pond Ledenica our counsellor made this photo. Many houses in Stanjel have shop signs, usually made of metal. One of them is sundial. Church is dedicated to Sant Daniel. On frescoes he's always with lions. Church is dated year 1443, in World War II was completely pulled down. Max Fabiani made a plan for its restoration. Two of our very "believing" students Igor and Benjamin were going to mass. Many of houses in Stanjel are in bad repair. With a little will power competents can renovate it. Typical example of limestone karst house is Kraska hisa. Today it's a museum with ethnographic exhibition. We were listening our counsellor when he was speaking about the history of town.
